GODWIN WARR

During the last 43 years Mr Warr has held various posts with the Industrial Property Office and the Commerce Department. Mr Warr was appointed Director General Commerce in 2003. and serves also as Registrar of Crafts, Craft-persons and Craft Entrepreneurs and as Comptroller of Industrial Property. He represents Malta on the Administrative Council and a number of Committees of the European Patent Organisation, on the Management Board and Budget Committee of the EU Intellectual Property Office and in the Assemblies of the World Intellectual Property Organisation Mr Warr also discharged duties as Chairman Malta Crafts Council, Deputy Chairman Malta Standards Authority and Chairman Sugar State Aid Committee. He was instrumental in the preparation Malta’s positions on the IP dossier in the run up to the WTO and EU accession and during the Maltese EU Presidency headed the national team chairing the IP Working Parties Mr Warr has led the drafting of several pieces of legislation relating to Intellectual Property Rights, Trade and Crafts. He also set up the original framework for the National Enterprise Support Awards, the Malta Intellectual Property Awards and the Premju Ġieħ l-Artiġjanat Awards Mr Warr is a Chevening Scholar and has been a guest lecturer on international aspects of intellectual property rights at the University of Malta.
