Commercial Fairs & Exhibitions

 A licence to hold a Commercial Fair and/or Exhibition shall be valid for seven (7) consecutive days including Sundays and Public Holidays, except Good Friday.

An application for a Licence to hold a commercial fair and/or exhibition (Form J), shall only be issued by the Trade Licences Unit, within the Commerce Department, and shall be made by the Organiser and shall contain the following information:

(a) the name, address and ID Card No, or any means of identification, of the person organising                   the Fair and/or Exhibition;

(b) the name and address of the premises where the Fair and/or Exhibition will be held;

(c) the name of each person participating in the Fair and/or Exhibition and the type of products                   to be sold;

(d) the VAT No of each participant;

(e) the date or dates when the Fair and/or Exhibition will be held.         

(f) Applicants are to attach a copy of the permit issued by the authority responsible for planning,                 building and development which allows the sale by retail or the hosting of fairs or exhibitions                 at the premises. 

EXTENSION OF PERIOD

A Commercial Fair and/or Exhibition organised for more than seven (7) consecutive days shall require a separate Licence.  These cannot, however, in total exceed thirty (30) days.

PUBLICITY

All advertising or promotional material promoting the Commercial Fair and/or Exhibition must bear the respective Licence No. 


The Trading Licence Unit may refuse to issue an authorisation for reasons of public policy, public safety, public security, public health, the protection of the environment, safeguarding national heritage, town and country planning and safeguarding national or local projects.

APPEAL:

Where an applicant feels aggrieved by the decision of the Trade Licensing Unit or from any Local Council in respect of a refusal of issuing of a licence, he may file an appeal in writing to the Licensing Appeals Board within ten (10) working days from the date when the applicant or any other person has been notified by the Trade Licensing Unit, in accordance with the provisions of Part VI of Subsidiary Legislation 441.07 - Trading Licences Regulations. The appeal can be sent to tradelicenceapplications@gov.mt or to Commerce Department, Lascaris Bastions, Daħlet Ġnien is-Sultan, Valletta, VLT1933, Malta.
