Awards Ceremony
The main objective of the Malta Intellectual Property
Awards, is that of encouraging the development of innovative ideas and products
which have potential and which are also unique and sustainable.
The 9th edition of the
Malta Intellectual Property Awards for 2018, organised by the Commerce Department, within the Ministry
for the Economy, Investment and Small Businesses, was held on the 22nd
March 2019, during which the finalists in the respective categories were
announced, and each awarded a Trophy and Monetary Prize:
Intellectual Property Award for Creativity
Winner: Mr. Nicholas Grima,
Mr Neil Zammit, Reciprocal – ‘Storja Animalta’
Runner up: Mr. Arif
Rochman, Polinno – ‘WhiteboART Truly Artistic Whiteboard’
Intellectual Property Award for Technological Initiative
Winner: Dr. Stephen Mizzi,
Dr. Owen Falzon, Tarsos – ‘In-Shoe Monitoring System for Diabetes’
Runner up: Mr. Gabor
Molnar, Laser Engineering and Development Ltd – ‘Development of the next
generation FDM 3D printer using innovative laser technology’
Intellectual Property Award - Emerging Innovator
Winner: Dr. Byron Baron –
‘Innovative method of detecting protein modifications for diagnosing colorectal
cancer’
