The main objective of the Malta Innovation Awards, is that of encouraging the development of innovative ideas and products which have potential, are unique and sustainable.  Applications were received and adjudicated in respect of the Award for Creative Innovation, the Award for Scientific Innovation, the Award for Technological Innovation and the Award for the Emerging Innovator.   

 
The 6th edition of the Malta Innovation Awards for 2015, organised by the Commerce Department, within the Ministry for the Economy, Investment and Small Business, was held on the 2nd March 2016, during which the finalists in the respective categories were announced, and each awarded a Trophy and Monetary Prize:

 
Award for Creative Innovation
Winner: Mr. Martin Bonnici obo Shadeena Films – ‘Strait street augmented reality experience’
Runner up: Ms. Desiree Azzopardi – ‘3D-printed personalised shoe parts’

 
Award for Scientific Innovation
Winner: Ing. Michael Attard – ‘Innovative method to produce new metal powders’
Runner up: Prof. Joseph N Grima, Mr. Luke Mizzi, Mr. Keith M Azzopardi, Mr. Arron Casha, Mr Ruben Gatt – ‘Transforming ordinary sheets of materials to auxetics’

 
Award for Technological Innovation
Winner: Mr. Keith M Azzopardi obo Thought3D Ltd – ‘MAGIGOO’
Runner up:  Ms. Daphne Tabone obo 6PM plc – ‘StrokePad’

 
Emerging Innovator Award
Winner:  Mr. Samuel Sultana, Mr. Kris Camilleri – ‘Three dimensional space experience’
